Fedotovia mikhailovi sp. n.

Figs 1 ‒15, 22‒23, 29‒ 31, Map 1

Types: MONGOLIA: Khovd Aimag: holotype ♂ ( ISEA) and paratype ♀ ( ISEA), 36 km SW from Altai Village, Bodonchiyn-Gol River Valley, 45 ° 45 ’N, 92 ° 11 ’E, stony desert, 1300 m, 7 ‒8.05.2012 (A.A. Fomichev).

Etymology. The specific name is a patronym in honour of our friend and colleague Kirill G. Mikhailov (Moscow, Russia), an outstanding araneologist and publisher/editor of many biological journals and monographs, who has made a great contribution to spider research.

Diagnosis. This new species differs from all congeners by the smaller body size and copulatory organs (cf. Table 1 and Figs 22‒28), darker coloration of abdomen, more flattened body ( Figs 2, 8) and relatively longer and thinner legs. Male of the new species differs by elongated and almost straight tibial apophysis (equal in length to tibia), presence of strong spine near the base of tibial apophysis and more bent distal part of median apophysis. Also, male of F. mikhailovi sp. n. differs by strongly developed spination of legs I and II: tibia I bears a dozen of lateral spines (absent or few in other Fedotovia ), metatarsi I with lateral spines (only ventral in others congeners). Epigyne of F. mikhailovi sp. n. is most similar to that in F. mongolica by having thick posterior part of insemination ducts, but differs in the direction of abovementioned ducts and fovea with almost parallel lateral margins (oval fovea in G. mongolica ).

Description. Male (holotype). Total length 5.8. Carapace: 2.7 long, 2.05 wide. Eye sizes and interdistances: AME 0.09, ALE 0.13, PME 0.09, PLE 0.13, AME‒AME 0.07, AME‒ALE 0.03, PME‒PME 0.06, PME‒PLE 0.14, ALE‒PLE 0.17; MOQ length 0.31, front width 0.21, back width 0.24. Coloration: Carapace light brown, with more dark margins ( Figs 7‒8). Chelicerae light brown; promargin with 2 teeth, retromargin with 4 teeth. Legs, labium, sternum and maxillae yellow. Opisthosoma dorsally grey with yellow spots, ventrally cream-colored. Spinnerets yellow-grey. Tibia I length/width ratio 6.3. Spination as in Table 2.

Leg measurements:

Palp as in Figs 13 ‒15, 22; retrolateral margin of cymbium slightly concave ( Fig. 22); tibial apophysis elongate (nearly as long as tibia) and almost straight (slightly bent on the tip), with strong spine (Sp) near the base on prolateral side ( Fig. 22), spine longer than tibial apophysis; base of embolus (in prolateral view) as wide as high.

Female. Total length 6.5. Carapace: 2.75 long, 2.1 wide. Eye sizes and interdistances: AME 0.09, ALE 0.14, PME 0.1, PLE 0.13, AME‒AME 0.07, AME‒ALE 0.03, PME‒PME 0.04, PME‒PLE 0.16, ALE‒PLE 0.19; MOQ length 0.33, front width 0.23, back width 0.27. Carapace light brown with darker margins. Chelicerae brown; promargin with 1 tooth, retromargin with 5 teeth. Labium, maxillae and sternum light brown. Legs yellow. Coloration of opisthosoma and spinnerets as in male. Tibia I length/width ratio 4.5. Spination as in Table 2.

Leg measurements: Epigyne as in Figs 23, 29‒ 31; with subparallel lateral margins, septum located in posterior part of fovea. Distribution. Known only from the type locality.

Abbreviations: Ap anterior part of the insemination ducts; Lm lateral margins; Sc scape; Ss stem of scape; Re receptacle; Tp basal part of the insemination ducts.
