Gansu, China, 2006–X–02, leg. J. Liu & W. Zheng.

Type locality. Lianghekou, Wudu County, S. Gansu

Material examined. Type material.

Distribution. Gansu (only known from the type localitiy).

Etymology. The new species is named for its similarity with P. pupopsis . The epithet is a noun in apposition.

Diagnosis. Shell with 7.500–7.875 whorls. Height 11.7, diam. maj. 5.1–5.2. Parietal tooth present. Columella with one blunt tooth. Palatal wall with a ridge-like tooth. Epiphallus forming a few loops. Flagellum present. Penial caecum present. Penis distally with two V-shaped pilasters. A-2 near A-3 internally without a ring of papillae. A-3 opening into A-2 without a papilla. Bursa copulatrix duct proximally twisted. Diverticle present.

Shell. Cylindrical with conical top; apex not acuminate; dextral; thin-shelled; solid; semitranslucent; glossy. Whorls never spirally grooved; moderately convex. Embryonic shell smooth; more or less polished; with 1.750– 1.750–1.750 whorls. Postnuclear whorls wrinkled. Suture simple. Last whorl ascending immediately behind aperture. Shell 11.7–11.7–11.7 high; 5.1–5.2– 5.2 in diam. maj. Height/diam. maj. ratio 2.26–2.27–2.27. Aperture ovate; slightly oblique; its insertions separated; 3.9–4.2–4.4 high, 3.5–3.6–3.7 wide. Ratio of shell height to aperture height 2.65–2.81–2.97. Palatal margin rounded. Peristome expanded; sharp. Palatal tooth ridge-like. Parietal callus indistinct. Angular tubercle and parietal tooth present. Columellar margin reflexed; with one blunt tooth. Umbilicus a narrow slit. Shell, including upper whorls, uniformly corneous-brown; aperture and teeth whitish.

Genitalia. Vas deferens long; of even thickness; entering epiphallus apically. Epiphallus long; cylindrical; forming a few loops. Epiphallic caecum apically blunt. Flagellum present; short; tubular; proximally not expanded; with blunt tip. Penis with terminal entrance of epiphallus; swollen; thin-walled; pilasters fused at epiphallic pore forming velum. With two V-shaped pilasters. V-shaped pilaster with proximal free end approaching at penial retractor insertion. Papilla developed by fused distal pilasters forming V-shaped structure absent. Penial caecum sac-like; situated at boundary between epiphallus and penis. Penial appendix long; branched off from penis at some distance from atrium; divided into sections A-1+A-2, A-3 and A-4+A-5. A-1 long; without verge toward penial chamber. A-1 and A-2 internally with evenly arranged transversal folds. A-1 and A-2 fused. A-2 near A-3 internally without a ring of papillae. A-2 and A-3 not fused. A-3 opening into A-2 without papilla. Boundary between A-4 and A-5 indistinct. A-5 long; straight. Free oviduct moderately long; longer than vagina. Bursa copulatrix duct proximally twisted. Bursa copulatrix small; poorly defined. Diverticle longer than reservoir; slightly expanded. Bursa copulatrix and diverticle distinguishable (diverticle inserted into bursa copulatrix duct at an angle, but bursa copulatrix connected to the duct smoothly); diverticle diverging from bursa duct closer to reservoir than to duct’s proximal end.

Measurement of genitalia. P: 1.1; Ep: 11.6; Fl: 2.1; VD: 13.2; Va: 3; FO: 2.5; BCD: 9.1; BC: 1.0; D: 2.0; A- 1+A-2: 2.5; A-3: 0.9; A-4+A-5: 16.0 (holotype).

Remarks. This species is conchologically and anatomically closest to P. pupopsis , except that the new species has a diverticle on the bursa copulatrix duct, and the penial caecum is always present.
