Diagnosis

This new species can be distinguished from other congeners by male covered with numerous slender hairs, largely hooked tibial apophysis, cymbium posteriorly expanded, large triangular apophysis at base and distally developed, clockwise coiled linear tip (left palp), and palpal organs embolus slender linear, twice coiled along with slender distal cymbium and enclosing long wound loop of sperm duct at right lateral part (left palp), without median apophysis.

Male. Medium-sized spider, entirely covered with numerous slender hairs. Carapace elongate, granulated, dark-brown coloured, 1.2 times as long as wide, convex thorax, lacking lateral invagination, with indistinctly longitudinal fovea ( Figure 4A, H View Figure 4 ). AER straight and PER slightly procurved in frontal view, PER longer than AER; AME separated by their diameter, and LERC ratio 48 ( Figure 4B View Figure 4 ). Clypeal height 1.4 times as long as AME diameter and with chilum slender transverse sclerite ( Figure 4B View Figure 4 ). Chelicerae with numerous long setae, with three promarginal teeth on groove, middle one largest, and two retromarginal teeth of subequal size ( Figure 4C View Figure 4 ). Maxillae reddish brown, widest at anterior part, longitudinal depression on inner part ( Figure 4D View Figure 4 ). Labium square as long as wide ( Figure 4D View Figure 4 ). Sternum shield-shaped, sclerotized intercoxal angles, widest between second coxae, slightly produced between fourth coxae ( Figure 4E View Figure 4 ). Legs ( Figure 4F, G View Figure 4 ) yellowish brown, dark ring patterns on tibiae and metatarsi, spineless, tarsi bearing claw tufts; leg I, II with cusp in a row on ventral; leg I longer than leg IV; length (patella+tibia) of first leg longer than carapace length; trochanter not notched; tibiae with four to eight trichobothria (four on first and third leg, eight on second, five on fourth), metatarsi with three trichobothria on each segment, tarsi with four trichobothria on each segment; tarsal organ not visible to distal end of tarsus; tarsi with two claws. Abdomen ovoid, dark-brown coloured, with two pairs of muscular impressions and scattered brownish yellow spots on dorsum, without dorsal, epigastric and ventral scuta ( Figure 4A, H View Figure 4 ).

Male palp ( Figure 5A–D View Figure 5 ) without tarsal claw. Tibia slightly as long as wide, with large hooked apophysis; femur largely concaved on the distal ventral part; cymbium posteriorly expanded, large triangular apophysis at base and distally developed, clockwise coiled linear tip (left palp), and without cymbial furrow; tegulum expanded roundedly at base, enclosing long wound loop of sperm duct at right lateral part (left palp).

Material examined

Holotype male ( NIBR), 15 August, 2001, Mt. Ungilsan , Namyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, leg. B.W. Kim.

Etymology

The specific name is a patronym in honor of Dr. Joo-Pil Kim, the Korean arachnologist who supported the early stages of my taxonomic studies with dedicated assistance and encouragement.

Distribution

Korea (Mt. Ungilsan).

Remarks

The specimen was found wandering under stone on the ground.
