Range: This species has a limited range in the East Sea ( Fig. 82 View FIGURE 82 ). The South Korean Coast Guard chronicled the only record of this species as a by-catch at Pohang (central east coast) in 2003 (Pohang Coast Guard, unpublished data).
Remarks: Kogia breviceps is considered monotypic, but geographic variation within the species has not been assessed ( Chivers et al. 2005).
