Drillia albicoma auct. non (Dall, 1889) is a possible misidentification by Sunderland & Sunderland (1993:14) according to Tippett (1995: 133).
Splendrillia petiti (Tippett, 1995) : Turgeon et al. (1998: 102).
Clathrodrillia albicoma auct. non (Dall, 1889) is a possible misidentification by Daccarett & Bossio (2011: 129, fig. 784).

Range and habitat. Mexico (Campeche Bank); Off Louisiana; off Alabama; W Florida (Levy Co.; Citrus Co.; Hillsborough Co.; Manatee Co.; Lee Co.; Collier Co.), Florida Keys; and E Florida (Lucie Co.; Palm Beach Co.; Miami-Dade Co.). The specimen illustrated in Daccarett & Bossio (2011: 129, fig. 784), if confirmed as this species, would extend its range to include San Andreas Is., Colombia. Reported from moderately deep water, mostly between 46– 183 m.
Description. Shell small (to 23.6 mm total length), fusiform; whorls convex, total about 9¾, the last approximately 58% of overall shell length. Shell surface smooth with a matte to glossy appearance; ribs are the dominant sculptural element; aperture narrow with a short but distinct anterior canal. Protoconch of 1¾–2 smooth round whorls. Axial sculpture of straight convex ribs, from suture-to-suture, peripheries vary among individuals from mid-whorl to below mid-whorl, evanesce on shell base; interspaces about as wide as ribs, which number 7–14 on penultimate and 6–10 on last whorl to varix. Growth striae present, run oblique to ribs, are recurved on shoulder. Varix large, distinct, not broadly hump-like but more like an enlarged rib—a little wider and higher; positioned about ¼- to ⅓-turn from edge of outer lip, Spiral sculpture of very fine threads made jagged by intersecting growth striae somewhat finer than spiral threads; threads finer and closer still on whorl shoulders. Shallow pits form in spaces between striae, axially bounded by spiral threads. Sulcus absent or nearly so; slightly narrower, reduced, and recurved axials may be present to mark the previous position of the anal sinus. Outer Lip thin, strengthened with one or more axial folds; lip edge flexed inward near anal sinus, and outward at the edge of the sinus. Edge of lip traces a low ark from anal sinus to anterior canal; stromboid notch wide, shallow. Anal sinus deeply notched, apex round, edges flared upward, parietal lobe on one side, and outward flexed outer lip causes the sinus to appear spout-like in fully developed individuals. Inner lip thin, emarginate, pinched erect anteriorly, formed into a lobe posteriorly. Lobe is positioned over the roof of the aperture. Anterior canal short but distinct, open, unnotched. Anterior fasciole not swollen, its surface microsculpture the same as on shell base. Color off white with a broad light golden yellow to light orange to reddish brown band, rarely interrupted by the ribs.
Remarks. Taxonomy. According to Tippett (1995: 133) Fenimorea petiti is up to 17.7 mm in length (23.6 mm in this work), has ribs suture-to-suture, butterfly wing-scale microsculpture, and a varix ¼-turn from the edge of the outer lip (holotype and some paratypes are depicted in Plate 92 View PLATE 92 ). It also has a narrow rib-like varix, a well-defined anterior canal, and lacks a distinct sulcus, characteristics that align F. petiti with the deeper water species of Fenimorea , rather than with shallow water species that have shorter anterior canals, hump-like varices, and a wide, distinct sulcus. Variability. The average length of 134 specimens is 12.11 mm (5.2–23.6 mm), the average W/ L ratio of 132 specimens is 0.397. The width of the central color band varies, as does its intensity and shade. Specimens from E Florida (see Plate 93 View PLATE 93 ) differ from the typical W Florida form, exemplified by the holotype, in possessing less convex whorls. These differences are not believed sufficient to separate them at the level of species. Specimens from the NW Gulf of Mexico differ in size, shape, and color from the type (see Plate 94 View PLATE 94 ). Specimens from off Alabama are much darker colored (Pl. 94, Figs. 12 –19), and from off the Mississippi River Delta, even though apparently fully developed, are diminutive (Pl. 94, Figs. 32–33). Identification. Fenimorea petiti is similar to F. pagodula (Dall, 1889) but that species differs in possessing ribs that are less convex, in having a higher spire, and in having a more subdued, narrower mid-whorl color band.
