=? Iberellus tanitianus Forés et Vilella, 1995 = Allognathus (Iberellus) hispanicus elserae Talaván Serna & Talaván Gómez, 2019 Endemic to the Pytiusics (including surrounding islets).

This revised classification, where undescribed taxa might need to be added, is in agreement with the historical biogeography of the Balearic archipelago. The diversification of Iberellus followed the break-up of the Balearic Promontory since the middle Miocene. However, Allognathus and later Tramuntanicola diverged at an earlier date, contributing to the uniqueness of the northern Tramuntana range. From this basis it should now be easier to proceed with studies on the phylogeny, ecology, evolution and conservation of these valuable species.
