DESCRIPTION. — Among the Elytrurus species of Vanuatu, E. risbeci View in CoL is distinctive because of a dense covering of offwhite large scales except for a broad black median stripe on the pronotum and a similar sutural stripe on the elytra. Otherwise there is little to separate this species from E. divaricatus View in CoL .
Length: 9.5-13.0 mm.
TYPE MATERIAL. — Described from two female specimens: holotype in MNHN, Paris (not seen), paratype in NHML, London (seen). Identified non-type specimens with BPBM, NHML, NZAC, SRFP .
MATERIAL EXAMINED. — Vanuatu. Malekula , Efate. 13 specimens .
BIOLOGY. — Found feeding on bourao ( Hibiscus tiliaceus ). Risbec (1937) reported damages on cacao leaves ( Theobroma cacao ).
ETYMOLOGY. — Named after the French collector Risbec.
