Euidothrips longicornis View in CoL n. sp.

( Figs. 1 View FIGURE 1 C & 4A–F)

Female macroptera. Distended body length 1.2 mm. Body bicoloured ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 C). Head yellow but brown between compound eyes and at median half of vertex; antennal segment I yellow with basal half shaded, II–IV yellow, V brownish yellow, VI–VIII brown with extreme base of VI yellowish; pronotum and abdomen almost uniformly yellow with intermediate segments of abdomen slightly shaded; pterothorax brown with meso- and metanota slightly yellowish; all legs yellow except mid femora dark brown with extreme bases and apices yellow; fore wing yellow with base brownish and with a middle longitudinal line at distal two-thirds pale brown, clavus dark at distal third pale; major setae yellow.

Head ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 A) slightly slender, 1.1–1.2 times as long as wide, longitudinally reticulate just behind compound eyes at each side. Antennal segment IV with apical neck, V–VI weakly pedicelate ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 B, C). Ratio length/width of antennal segments I to VIII as follows: 0.8–1.0, 0.9, 3.3–3.4, 5.6–5.7, 3.6, 5.1–5.6, 3.5–4.0, 5.3–5.6.

Pronotum ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 A) 0.7 times as long as wide, with slightly irregular polygonal reticulations at anterior third and longitudinal median sixth of posterior two-thirds, indistinctly sculptured behind anterior reticulate areas at each side, with about 15 discal setae medially. Metascutum ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 D) with CPS. Fore wing costal vein with 23–24 setae, posterior fringe cilia almost straight, slightly undulating. Tarsi 2-segmented.

Abdominal tergites ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 E) with median reticulations longitudinal; tergites I–VII with submedian areas smooth, and with three posteromarginal lobes having marginal teeth behind median reticulations on II–VI; tergites III–VIII with six setae at each side (outermost seta on laterotergite); tergites VII–VIII with posteromarginal craspeda having fine marginal teeth medially; tergite VIII with spiracles small, about one-fifth of lateral tergal length; tergite IX with S1 setae reaching or exceeding apex of tergite X; sternites ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 F) without discal setae, reticulations almost as long as wide at median area and distinctly wide at lateral areas but almost smooth posteromedially; sternites each with posteromarginal setae in front of posterior margin, 3–4 pairs on II, 4–5 pairs of setae on III–VI, three pairs on VII. Ovipositor 1.5 times as long as median length of pronotum.

Measurements of holotype female in microns. Total body length 1230; head length 130 (length including anterior prolongation 160), width across cheeks 118; compound eye dorsal length 63, width 35; pronotal median length 114, width 155; metascutal median length 63; fore wing length 570, width at base 55, width at middle 15; abdominal tergite IX median length 65, S1 setae length 63; tergite X median length 45; ovipositor length 165. Antennal segments I–VIII length (width) as follows: 20 (26), 28 (30), 58 (18), 98 (18), 50 (14), 58 (11), 20 (5), 20 (4).
