Material examined. Types. Holotype ♀: SOUTH AFRICA: Western Cape Province, Ceres , III.1925, R.E. Turner leg. ( BMNH). Paratype. SOUTH AFRICA: Eastern Cape Province, Port St. Johns, 15–31.V.1923, R.E. Turner leg., 1♀ ( BMNH). Other material. MOZAMBIQUE: Nampula Province, Nampula, near Nampula Catholic Seminary, collected by sweeping on 21.XI.1999, M. Olmi leg., 1♀ ( MOLC); Niassa Province, Cuamba, near University Dormitory, reared from female adult of Caliscelis sp., parasitized host collected 15.XI.1999, pupating 19.XI.1999, dryinid adult emerged 18.XII.1999, M. Olmi leg., 1♀ ( MOLC); same locality label, reared from adult of Eumecurus hottentottus (Stål) , parasitized host collected 15.XI.1999, pupated 17.XI.1999, dryinid adult emerged 18.XII.1999, M. Olmi leg., 1♀ ( MOLC). NAMIBIA: Namib/Naukluft Park, Kuiseb River near Gobabeb, 23°34'S 15°03'E, 18.II–20.III.1983, 1♀ ( AMNH). TANZANIA: Chambezi, VII.1987, on coconut, A.M. Varela leg., 1♀ ( BMNH). ZIMBABWE: Sawmills, 9.VII.1923, Rhodesia Museum leg., 1♀ ( SAMC).
Redescription. Female: apterous; length 3.3–3.7 mm. Completely testaceous-reddish, except petiole black. Antenna clavate; antennal segments of holotype in following proportions: 19:11:34:21:22:14:13:12:12:19. Head excavated, dull, granulated; frontal line almost complete, absent only near clypeus; occipital carina absent; POL = 5; OL = 6; OOL = 20. Palpal formula 5/3. Pronotum dull, granulated, crossed by strong transverse furrow. Scutum dull, granulated. Metanotum transversely striate, hollow behind scutellum, with sides protruding; lateral protrusions of metanotum rounded ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 5 – 7. 5 ). Metathorax + propodeum dull, granulated, with anterior surface sculptured by numerous slight longitudinal striae; posterior surface of propodeum, mesopleuron and metapleuron transversely striate. Meso-metapleural suture distinct and complete. Protarsal segment 1 slightly shorter than segment 4 (13:16). Segment 5 of protarsus ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 5 – 7. 5 ) with two rows of 13–23 lamellae; distal apex with 12–18 lamellae. Enlarged claw ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 5 – 7. 5 ) with one large subdistal tooth and one row of 6–12 lamellae. Tibial spurs 1/0/1.
Male. Unknown.
Hosts. Issidae and Cixiidae ( Olmi 2004a; Guglielmino & Olmi 2006): in Mozambique: Caliscelis sp. ( Issidae ) ( Olmi 2004a); Eumecurus hottentottus (Stål) (Cixiidae) ( Olmi 2004a).
Distribution. Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zimbabwe.
