Subfamily Psepheninae
This subfamily is distributed predominately in the New World. Only one genus, Mataeopsephus , occurs in the Oriental region. Larvae have exposed abdominal gills, each of which has branches that arise from a central stalk ( Fig. 14 View Figs ). Larvae are found on rocks and gravel in streams. Adults are found on rocks in riffles. We collected the first records of this genus from Thailand (Map E).
