HOLOTYPE: MIZ PAS, adult female, ( MIZ 83480) stuffed specimen, collected by Jan Sztolcman in 1880 in „Peruvia orient. Yurimaguas” [= Yurimaguas , Loreto Region, Peru] ( Taczanowski 1881) ( Fig. 1. REMARKS: One specimen (skin and part of skull) of this mustelid (a female) was collected near Yurimaguas by the Huallaga river in Peru. The animal was not sampled by J. Sztolcman but provided to him by “ someone named Mr. Brown, Yankee settled in Yurimaguas ” ( Sztolcman 1883). W. Taczanowski named it Mustela Stolzmanni to honour the discoverer of this species – Jan Sztolcman ( Taczanowski 1881; Piechnik & Kurek 2016).
