Report associated with sponges: This species was mentioned by Crowell (1990) as developmentally associated with freshwater sponges in the Northern Hemisphere.

Remarks: This species belongs to the ‘ U. crassipes —complex’ of sponge-mite. This species was reported in Gilan Province, Iran ( Hevers 1984). It needs further study (emphasizing on developmental study) of this mite to get a better idea about association with freshwater sponges.
