Steneotarsonemus (Steneotarsonemus) Beer 1954: 1229 . Type species by original designation: Steneotarsonemus hyaleos Beer, 1954 .
Only a single species, S. spirifex , has been recorded thus far from New Zealand ( Martin 1983). Further collecting and study of this subgenus in New Zealand will no doubt add many more species.
