Description
Female. Body length 4.0 mm. Forewing 0.6 mm. Head: head longer than wide. Malar space as long as VOL, convergent anteriorly. Mandible with three apical teeth. Median clypeal lobe quadrate; lateral lobe short; median clypeal carina inclined, complete, straight in dorsal view. Antenna short [not reaching mesoscutum]; scape slightly curved; pedicel caliciform; flagellomere I as long as pedicel; flagellomeres short. Eye small [0.5 x LH], circular. Frons strongly foveolate. Frontal angle of ocellar triangle right; ocelli very small, DAO 2.0 × POL; ocellar fovea present. Dorsal half of occipital carina high, with side strigate; ventral half of occipital carina complete, high, with side strigate. Mesosoma: dorsal pronotal area as long as wide, foveolate, anterior margin outcurved, anterior corner rounded, trapezoidal, lateral margin slightly incurved, posterior margin straight; longitudinal pronotal sulcus complete. Anteromesoscutum foveolate, shorter than mesoscutellum; longitudinal antero-mesoscutal sulcus incomplete; notaulus deep, wide, polished; parapsidal signum shallow. Axilla strigate, deep. Mesoscutum-mesoscutellar sulcus arched, not laterally dilated; mesoscutellum short, polished. Metapectal-propodeal complex more than 0.5 × longer than wide; metapostnotum without longitudinal ridge between metaposnotal median carina and metaposnotal-propodeal suture; metapostnotal surface areolate; metapostnotal median carina complete; posterior projection of metapectal-propodeal complex short, thick. Propodeal declivity areolate, with median and lateral carinae. Lateral surface of metapectal-propodeal complex strigate, without subdorsal carina. Mesopleuron foveolate; posterior oblique sulcus foveolate; mesopleural suture with inner margin strigate. Wings: brachypterous. Metasoma: tergum I with ventral surface strigate, with lateral pilosity; tergum II with dorsal surface punctured, with lateral pilosity, ventral surface polished. Genitalia: T9 slender, not overlapping 2vf. 2vf with anterior area (aa) narrow, posterior projection narrow, dorsal projection (dp) long; anterior section of dorsal flange of second valvifer (asf) transversally oriented. Shaft (1vv+2vv) as long as sting body (2vf+3vv), thin, 2vv and 1vv equally wide. 3vv longer than wide.
Colouration. Wings bi-banded; light castaneous: mandible, palpi, tegula, wing venation, and tarsi; orange: head, mesosoma; castaneous: scape, pedicel, coxae, trochanters, femora, and tibiae; dark castaneous: flagellum; dark castaneous nearly black: metasoma. Remarks
This new species is superficially similar to I. soikai in having the head and mesosoma orange, the flagellum dark castaneous, the head longer than wide, and the pronotal longitudinal sulcus complete. However, this is the first brachypterous species of this genus. Incertosulcus pinotage sp. nov., thus has some modifications complementary to this wing condition, such as the anteromesoscutum shorter than mesoscutellum, the notaulus wide, the mesoscutellum short, and the posterior projection of metapectalpropodeal very short. Additionally, I. pinotage sp. nov. is distinguished from I. soikai by having the median clypeal lobe quadrate, the eye small, the ocelli very small, the longitudinal antero-mesoscutal sulcus present, the metapostnotum without longitudinal ridge between metaposnotal median carina and metaposnotal-propodeal suture.
