Barsine longstriga ( Fang, 1991) View in CoL
( Figs. 7–9 View FIGURES 1–9 , 28 View FIGURES 26–28 , 40 View FIGURES 38–43 )
Miltochrista longstriga Fang, 1991 , Sinozoologia 8 (5): 390, 396, fig. 7 (Type locality: [China] "Qinling, Shaanxi").
Type material examined. Photograph of the holotype ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 1–9 ): white label " Miltochrista longstriga Fang " / red label " Holotype " / white label in Chinese / white label in Chinese with date "1979. VII.30 " / white label "[slide] L- 0049" / blue label "IOZ(E) 208634" / white label " ♂ " (Coll. IZCAS).
Other material examined. 1 ♂, 5 ♀, [Sichuan] Kwanhsien, China, VII.1930, G.M. Franck [leg.] (Coll. NHMUK) ; 1 ♀, same locality and collector, but 18.VII. [19]30 (Coll. NHMUK) ; 2 ♂, [Sichuan] Kwanhsien , W China, 15 and 29.VII. [19]26, G.M. Franck [leg.] (Coll. NHMUK) ; 1 ♂, Kwanhsien, Szechwan [Sichuan], W China, 17.VII. [19]26 G.M. Franck [leg.] (Coll. NHMUK) ; 1 ♂, 3 ♀, Kwanhsien, West China, 24.VII.–1.VIII. [19]26, G.M. Franck [leg.] ( Coll. NHMUK) .
Diagnosis. Length of forewing is 11–12 mm in males and 13–14 mm in females. The species differs clearly from other members of the B. cardinalis – anomala 'species-complex' in the paler ground colour of forewing, the basally broader longitudinal blackish strip, presence of the strong blackish suffusion on forewing veins, and dark brown forewing cilia ( Figs. 7–9 View FIGURES 1–9 ). The male genitalia ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 26–28 ) are characterized by the large rounded distal lobe of valva, presence of the small claw-like medial costal process, the small trigonal distal costal process directed dorsally, the robust, long, dorsally curved and apically pointed distal saccular process well separated from the distal section of valva, and presence of fields of small and more or less spine-like cornuti in the vesica; the female genitalia ( Fig. 40 View FIGURES 38–43 ) differ clearly from other species in the large, ovoid, weakly sclerotized corpus bursae with a weak rugose sclerotization posteriorly and without any signa, scobination or granulation.
Distribution. Central and South China (Shaanxi, Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guangdong) ( Fang 1991, 2000; Dubatolov et al. 2012). The report of B. longstriga for India ( Kirti & Singh 2016) belongs to B. anomala .
