8. Limonium sieberi View in CoL group.―This group includes plants that are glaucous, with smooth to rough (rarely tuberculate) surfaces. Their stems are robust, rigid, and little-branched, with few or no sterile branches. The leaves are rigid and spathulate. The long spikelets are arranged remotely. All the species in this group are found in the Aegean area. Karyologically, they are polyploid aneuploids, with a typical chromosome number of 2n = 43 (rarely 2n = 51 or 52). The only species in this group with a wide distribution is L. sieberi (NW Crete, Kythira, southern Peloponnese, Euboea and Alonissos). The other species are found on of Crete ( L. hierapetrae , L. cornarianum , L. creticum , L. minoicum , L. chrisianum ), Andros ( L. sartorianum ), Kythira ( L. cythereum ) and Karpathos ( L. pigadiense ).
