Distribution in Iran: Alborz, East Azerbaijan, Mazandaran, Tehran (Ebrahimi 2014), Guilan ( Ghahari et al. 2008), Fars ( Dollfuss 2008b), Sistan-o Baluchestan ( Gussakovskij 1933; de Beaumont 1970); no specific locality ( Esmaili & Rastegar 1974).
General distribution: Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Bulgaria, France, Greece, Hungary, Iran, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Macedonia, Mongolia, Morocco, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan.
Remarks: This species was first recorded as Sphex occitanicus from Bampur (Kerman province— Gussakovskij 1933), which is a part of Sistan-o Baluchestan province. Two subspecies Palmodes occitanicus puncticollis (Kohl, 1888) ( Ghahari et al. 2008) and Palmodes occitanicus syriacus ( Dusmet & Mercet, 1906) ( Gussakovskij 1933; de Beaumont 1970) have been recorded from Iran.
