Etymology. The species bears the name of type locality, San Cristobal reef, La Parguera, Puerto Rico.

Remarks. Cumella sancristobalensis sp. nov. resembles C. antipai Petrescu, Iliffe & Sarbu, 1994 from Jamaica ( Petrescu et al., 1994) with three setae on uropodal peduncle and C. baraschi sp. nov. from Puerto Rico with long carapace, with smooth integument, without tumidities like in C. antipai . It also differs with: 1) maxilliped 3 with longer basis than in C. baraschi ; 2) uropodal peduncle with three vs. four setae on medial margin in C. antipai and C. baraschi ; 3) uropodal endopod with three longer setae and two shorter vs. four setae in C. baraschi . Cumella sancristobalensis sp. nov. was collected from a shallow coastal reef and has not been found in mesophotic reefs at present.
