Genus Igerna Kirkaldy View in CoL
Igerna Kirkaldy 1903: 13 View in CoL . Type-species: Pachynus bimaculicollis Stål , by original designation, replacement name for Pachynus Stål 1866 not Rafinesque 1815.
Diagnosis. Coloration similar to Austroagallia but much darker. Posterior margin of crown sinuately curved laterally behind eyes, ocelli either slightly closer to each other than to eyes or equidistant or distinctly closer to eyes than to each other. Face in profile rather uniformly curved from crown to apex of clypellus, surface smooth. Claval veins not connected by cross vein. Male pygofer with caudal lobe produced dorsally, often forked. Aedeagus symmetrical rarely asymmetrical, dorsal apodeme and socle well developed. Anal collar process most often simple or reduced, rarely with prominent process.
Distribution. Afrotropical, Oriental and Pacific Islands.
Remarks. Viraktamath (2011) recently revised the genus for the Oriental region and also redescribed it. The genus is here recorded for the first time from China. Igerna belongs to the group of genera with sinuate posterior margin of crown to which Austroagallia, Ianagallia and Japanagallia belong from the Oriental region. It can be differentiated from these genera by the symmetrical aedeagus and smoothly curved face from crown to apex of clypellus.
