Remarks. This species is distributed in the Mediterranean coastal plain of Israel and is listed in FishBase based on Goren (1974) from Syria. However, Syria is not included in the natural distribution of the species. Probably, the record of this species from Syria is due to misidentification. The presence of the species needs clarification.
