Type:— JAMAICA, Wright s.n. (“ Myrtus aeruginea Forsyth herb.”) (holotype G-DC!, isotype F!).
Eugenia fadyenii Krug & Urban var. fadyenii (1895: 622–623). Type:— CUBA. Hongolozongo, Linden 2124 (syntype B †; lectotype K! ( K000276297 ), designated here; isolectotypes BR!, G!, K! (3 sheets K000276337 , K000276298 , K000276296 ), P!, 2 sheets, W!). Remaining syntypes:— JAMAICA. Blue Mountains , August 1894, W. Harris 5251 (syntype B †; isosyntypes F!, G!, K!, NY!, 2 sheets). JAMAICA. Blue Mountains , August 1893, W. Harris 5009 (syntype B †; isosyntypes C!, F!, G!, 2 sheets, M!). JAMAICA. Blue Mountains, August 1893, W. Harris 5008 (syntype B †; isosyntypes G!, 2 sheets, W).
Eugenia fadyenii Krug & Urban var. glabra Krug & Urban (1895: 623) View in CoL . Type :— JAMAICA. Blue Mountains, prope St. Andrews, 21 December 1891, C. Nicholls 5039 (holotype B†; lectotype K, designated here).
Notes:—In describing Eugenia fadyenii var. fadyenii, Krug & Urban (1895) View in CoL cited several specimens as syntypes, presumedly destroyed in herbarium B. One of the specimens of Linden 2124 from K was chosen as the lectotype of Eugenia fadyenii var. fadyenii View in CoL , because it has more reproductive parts (buds and flowers) than the other specimens and is in good condition. Lectotype of Eugenia fadyenii var. glabra View in CoL has been designated here, once the holotype has also been destroyed at the herbarium B and the specimen deposited in K is the only isotype found.
Distribution:— Mexico to Honduras and Caribbean, growing in secondary forest on river banks.
