Distribution. China (Anhui, Fujian, Gansu, Guizhou, Hebei, Heilongjiang, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Sichuan, Tianjin, Xinjiang, Yunnan, Zhejiang), Europe, India, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Russia (Far East).

Hostplants. Prunus sp., Ribes sp., Hedera sp., Lonicera sp. ( Kawabe, 1982).

Diagnosis. Wing expanse 9.0–15.0 mm. This species is widely distributed in China. It is characterized by the forewing having an inverted triangular median fascia ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 b). It is similar to E. sanguisorbana in the male genitalia, but can be distinguished by the termen and cilia almost concolorous with the forewing ground color, except the subapical area; the median fascia with the anterior portion as broad as the posterior portion; the male genitalia with the sacculus with spines and the distal cornuti of the aedeagus arranged in a ring ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 b); and the female genitalia with the ductus bursae broadened posteriorly, relatively broad, 1/2 width of the corpus bursae in the female genitalia ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 b). In E. sanguisorbana the forewing ground color is yellowish with dark brown on the termen and the cilia from the costa to the dorsum; the anterior portion of the median fascia is broader than the posterior portion ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 g); in the male genitalia ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 d) the sacculus bears no spine and the distal cornuti of the aedeagus are arranged linearly; and in the female genitalia the ductus bursae is not broadened posteriorly and it is relatively narrow, 1/3 width of the corpus bursae ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 f).
