Description. Coloration. Body yellowish brown ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 D). Face with four black spots on upper part, two black discoidal spots extending from middle to clypellus ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 G). Pronotum brown with two black spots on fore margin behind eyes. Scutellum yellowish with black triangular spots in side angles ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 F).

Morphology. Body form typically wedge-shaped ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 D). Head wider than pronotum, crown shorter in middle than next to eyes. Pronotum broad, slightly concave on posterior margin, striae on surface dense, oblique. Mesonotum triangular, with one heavy notch on posterior region ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 F). Face across eyes longer than wide, ocelli on face, between eyes with their distance about 4.0 times than that of ocellus to adjacent eye, clypellus oblong ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 G). Forewing has 3 anteapical cells ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 E). Hind tibial chaetotaxy PD10, AD7, AV5.

Male genitalia. Pygofer nearly triangular, subgenital plates long with marginal setae ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 A). Aedeagal shaft long, upturned dorsally; with parallel lateral margins and rounded apex in caudal view; gonopore apical ( Figs. 3 View FIGURE 3 B– C). Connective with a fingerlike protrusion in middle between arms, both lateral arms bent dorsally ( Figs. 3 View FIGURE 3 D–E). Style slender, slightly dorsally curved, with blunt tips ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 F).

Measurement. Length: ♂, 3.1–3.3mm.

Material examined. Holotype: ♂, China, Xinjiang Autonomous Region, Kashen, 620m, 21 August 1957, coll. Hong Chunpei ( IZAS); Paratype: 1 ♂, same data as holotype.

Distribution. China (Xinjiang).

Diagnosis. The new species has typical body form for Hephathus , but can be distinguished by the relatively wide aedeagus, the apical gonopore, and the apically blunt style.

Etymology. The specific epithet refers to the relatively wide aedeagus.
