ZMB 32818/32819 (= A 75,08,1070/1071), skull, skin; ZMB 32820–32825 skulls, skins; Mawambi, Ituri- Gebiet [Ituri Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo].
Comment: Lorenz just mentioned: “ Matschie […] teilt überdies in einem Briefe mit, dass er die schwarzen Mangaben von Mawambi auch noch unter dem Namen C. albigena mawambicus abgetrennt habe.” [Matschie […] also states in a letter that he has also separated the black mangabeys from Mawambi under the name C. albigena mawambicus]. However, a valid species description has not been published, therefore the name mawambicus is not available. The mention without comment in Allen (1939) and Wilson & Reeder (1993) does not reveal that it is a nomen nudum.
