Cercopithecus flavidus Peters, 1852 View in CoL

Reise nach Mossambique, p. 3

Valid name: Chlorocebus pygerythrus (Cuvier, 1821)

Holotype: ZMB 87561 [An 16319] male, skull, skeleton; Tete, Mozambique, collected by Peters, undated.

Comments: The description of Cercopithecus flavidus based on a single specimen from ”Quitangonha". Schwarz (1926, p.39) could not find the type in the Berlin collection. Cercopithecus flavid us Ptrs. Männchen Mossambique, Peters“ [Translation: In our collection, as far as the catalogs can be judged, there has never been a stuffed specimen or a skin of this species, which could be considered an original of the species listed by Peters [...]; on the other hand, we have taken over a skeleton [skull?] from the earlier “Anatomical Collection”, into which a large part of the objects collected by Peters came, with the designation: “No. 16319. Cercopithecus flavidus Ptrs. , male Mozambique, Peters]“.
