Type locality. USA: California, Hanford (Scĥtt 1896: 181) .
Records from Colombia. Locality 13 ( Christiansen 1963: 158).
Distribution. Cosmopolitan ( Mari-Mutt & Bellinger, 1990, 1996; Mari-Mutt et al. 1997 –2023; Bellinger et al. 1996 –2023).
Remarks. The identity, and consequently the distribution of this species, is controversial due to its similarity with E. nigrocincta Denis, 1923 described from France, which was possibly introduced in many regions of the world ( Christiansen 1963; Jordana 2012: 101; Katz et al. 2015: 18) or the species is in fact widely distributed. For this reason, I am considering here E. atrocincta sensu lato, as wide distribution ( Christiansen 1963, Jordana 2012; Katz et al. 2015).
