Distribution. Western Atlantic—USA (North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida), Bermuda, Bahamas, Gulf of Mexico, Honduras, Panama, Antilles, Colombia, Venezuela, and Brazil (Fernando de Noronha, Atol das Rocas, Ceará, Paraíba, Alagoas, São Paulo). Central Atlantic—Ascencion Island, Cape Verde, and São Tome and Príncipe ( Guinot 1964; Forest & Guinot 1966; Williams et al. 1968; Powers 1977; Lemaitre 1981; Williams 1984; Keith 1985; Abele & Kim 1986; Alvarez-León 1989; Manning & Chace 1990; Melo 1996, 1998; Alves et al. 2006; Coelho Filho 2006; Felder et al. 2009).
Remarks. Previous records in São Paulo include Ilha Vitória ( Alves et al. 2006, 2012a).
