( Fig. 11 View FIGURE 11 )

Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) obsis Ueckermann & Loots, 1988: 13 .

Kuzinellus obsis, Moraes et al., 2004: 273 View in CoL ; Chant & McMurtry, 2007: 144.

FEMALE. (Specimens measured. South Africa: Holotype and 3 paratypes)

Dorsum. Dorsal shield 337(329–346) [329] long and 169(157–178) [157] wide, reticulate. Setae j1 21(20–22) [22], j3 28(26–30) [27], j4 22(21–23) [21], j5 21(20–22) [20], j6 30(28–31) [28], J2 44(42–46) [42], J5 12(9–13) [9], z2 22(21–22) [22], z3 29(28–29) [28], z4 30(28–31) [28], z5 25(21–26) [21], z6 33(32– 35) [32], Z4 48(43–52) [43], Z5 46(43–48) [43], s4 35 (30–41) [30], s6 36 (34–38) [38], S2 45 (43–46) [43], S4 43 (40–46) [41], S5 36 (33–39) [36], r3 26(24–28) [24], R1 28(27–29) [27]. Setae long, setiform, smooth, sharp-tipped, except J5, Z4 and Z5, serrate; seta R1 inserted on membrane.

Venter. Sternal shield smooth, with 2 pairs of setae (ST3 inserted on membrane); posterior margin convex; distances between ST1-ST3 62(60–64) [61], ST2-ST2 52(51–52) [51]. Genital shield smooth; distance between ST5-ST5 55(51–58). Ventrianal shield smooth, vase-shaped, constricted laterally at level of preanal pores, anterior margin slightly convex, 112(109–115) [109] long, 62(56–66) [62] wide at level of ZV2, 57(51– 62) [58] wide at level of anus; setae JV2 and JV3 present; round preanal pores posteromesad to JV2. Caudoventral setae smooth and sharp-tipped.

Chelicera. Movable digit 22(21–23) [22] long, with 2 teeth; fixed digit 20(17–22) long, with 4 teeth and a pilus dentilis.

Spermatheca. Calyx funnel-shaped, 29 (23–37) [30] long; atrium c-shaped.

Legs. Knobbed or sharp-tipped macroseta: St IV 21 (19–22) [19]. Chaetotaxy: genu II: 2-2/1, 2/0-1; genu III: 1-2/1, 2/0-1.

MALE. (Specimens measured. South Africa: 1 paratype)

Dorsum. Dorsal shield and setal pattern as in female, 253 long and 150 wide. Setae j1 17, j3 22, j4 16, j5 16, j6 18, J2 24, J5 10, z2 18, z3 20, z4 22, z5 18, z6 19, Z4 30, Z5 30, s4 25, s6 24, S2 26, S4 24, S5 22, r3 21, R1 21.

Peritreme. Extending to level of j1.

Venter. Ventrianal shield subtriangular, mostly smooth with few striae anteriorly; because of its position on the microscope slide, length not possible to measure, 122 wide at the anterior corners; with 4 pairs of preanal setae (JV1, JV2, JV3 and ZV2), 4 pairs of lyrifissures (1 anterior to JV1, 1 lateral and almost in line with JV1, 1 lateral and posterior to JV1 and 1 lateral and lightly posterior to ZV2), 1 pair of round preanal pores posteromesad to JV2. Caudoventral setae smooth and sharp-tipped.

Spermatodactyl. Curved distally with a small pointed process near curve, ending in a knob; shaft 19 long.

Legs. Knobbed or sharp-tipped macroseta: St IV 18. Chaetotaxy of genua II and III same as in female.

Specimens examined. South Africa: Holotype female, 3 paratype females and one paratype male from Tapinanthus natalitius subsp. zeyheri, Roodeplaat Nature Reserve near Pretoria, Gauteng Province, 27-XI- 1979, E.A. Ueckermann; all deposited at NCA-PPRI.
