Diagnosis. This species is characterized by the forewing with a sub-trapezoidal and a sub-rhombic brown patches; in the female genitalia by the signum with length as wide as the corpus bursae and the transition of corpus bursae and the appendix bursae with a few of scattered spicules. This species is similar to S. flavescens Kuznetzov, 1984 and S. callicarpicola Terada, 2012 , and the differences between them are stated in the diagnosis of the latter two species.
Description. Adult ( Fig. 26 View FIGURES 20‒26 ). Wingspan 8.5‒13.0 mm. Head with frons silvery white; vertex silvery white to yellow; occiput brown, yellow laterally. Labial palpus silvery white on inner surface, pale yellow on outer surface. Antenna ochreous yellow, silvery white on anterior margin of scape. Collar ochreous yellow; thorax ochreous yellow, with brown spot posterolaterally, with a brown spot on posterior margin; tegula yellow. Forewing yellow; costal margin brown, paler toward apex, with a small yellow spot at base; basal fascia brown; dorsal margin with two brown patches: first patch at basal 1/3, sub-trapezoidal, slightly crossing anterior margin of cell, second patch at basal 2/3, sub-rhombic, extending obliquely outward and crossing anterior angle of cell, with a slender brown streak from its outer side extending straightly to apex, two patches linked by a brown streak on dorsal margin; fringe greyish brown. Hindwing and fringe grey. Legs ochreous yellow on dorsal surface, yellowish white on ventral surface; foreleg with tibia blackish brown on outer surface, tarsus blackish brown at apex; midleg with tibia blackish brown at base on dorsal surface, with ochreous yellow bristles at middle and apex; hindleg with tibia with a blackish brown line on inner surface, bearing long ochreous brown bristles at basal 1/3, 2/3 and apex on dorsal surface, tarsus blackish brown at apices of basal three tarsomeres, with ochreous brown bristles at apices of basal two tarsomeres. Abdomen with anterior half of each segment pale brown and posterior half pale yellow on dorsal surface, yellowish white on ventral surface.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 51 View FIGURES 46‒51 ). Uncus trapezoidal, wide at base, narrowed to apex, with long setae laterally, apex straight, curved downward in lateral view. Gnathos narrowly tongue-shaped, apex slightly curved downward in lateral view. Tegumen with height 2.3 times length of uncus. Valva wide at base, narrowed toward cucullus; cucullus elongate oval, length 2.5 times of maximum width, straight on dorsal margin, obtuse on ventral margin, rounded at apex; inner process hooked; costa convex triangularly; sacculus 2/3 length of valva, concave at basal 1/3 on ventral margin, with long setae, apex broadly rounded, free from valva, exceeding ventral corner of cucullus. Vinculum narrowly banded; saccus U-shaped, 1/4 length of uncus. Juxta elliptical; anellar lobes conical, twice length of juxta, with long setae. Aedeagus 1.2 times length of valva, with a sclerotized plate near base, basal 2/3 almost uniform, distal 1/3 tapered to apex; distal process half length of aedeagus, slenderly clubbed; cornutus absent.
Female genitalia ( Fig. 71 View FIGURES 67‒71 ). Papillae anales longer than wide, fused in conical shape posteriorly, with short setae. Intersegmental membrane between papillae anales and eighth abdominal segment approximately twice length of papillae anales. Apophyses posteriores approximately 1.5 times length of apophyses anteriores. Eighth segment straight on posterior margin, with long setae; eighth tergite straight anteriorly; eighth sternite semi-oval anteriorly. Antrum sub-rectangular, width three times of length, with dense microspines on inner wall. Ductus bursae almost uniform, twice length of corpus bursae. Corpus bursae rounded, rugose; signum slender, crescent, at middle of corpus bursae, length as wide as corpus bursae. Appendix bursae wider and twice longer than corpus bursae, with a few spicules scattered at transition of corpus bursae and appendix bursae; ductus seminalis tubular basally, slender and with dense granules distally.
Host plant. Callicarpa japanica Thunb. (Lamiaceae) ( Terada 2012).
Distribution. China (Guangxi, Guizhou, Hainan, Hubei, Taiwan, Tianjin, Zhejiang); Japan.
