Ambrosiophilus osumiensis (Murayama) comb. n.

Xyleborus osumiensis Murayama, 1934: 292 View in CoL .

Xyleborus metanepotulus Eggers, 1939: 119 View in CoL . syn. n.

Ambrosiophilus metanepotulus (Eggers) : Beaver and Liu, 2010: 21.

Taxonomy: The holotype of Xyleborus osumiensis was examined at NMNH by SMS and was compared to photos of the X. metanepotulus holotype (TARI). The two specimens were found to be conspecific. Xyleborus metanepotulus is here placed in synonymy. The species has the generic characters of Ambrosiophilus Hulcr and Cognato, 2009, and is here transferred to that genus.
