Taxonomy: The type specimen of X. canus View in CoL collected in Sapporo could not be located in Niisima’s collection (NIAES). However, three non-type specimens from [Mt.] “Moiwa” [Sapporo] identified as X. canus View in CoL by Niisima were examined (NIAES) and were directly compared with specimens of X. attenuatus View in CoL (MSUC, NMNH) and found to be conspecific. Xyleborus canus View in CoL is here placed in synonymy.
