TYPE SPECIES. Proarna heidemanni Distant 1905d: 311 View in CoL . ( Argentina and Sapucay , Paraguay)
REMARKS. Species of Prasinosoma possess a head wider than the mesonotum, the vertex in the area of the ocelli is longer than the dorsal postclypeus, the pronotal lateral margins are approximately parallel, about as wide as the mesonotum except for the lateral angle of the pronotal collar, pronotum about the same length as the mesonotum, fore wings hyaline, without infuscation, about 1.1–1.2X body length, opercula well developed, abdomen longer than the length from the apex of postclypeus to the cruciform elevation, and a pygofer lacking a dorsal beak ( Torres 1963a).
DISTRIBUTION. Species of the genus are currently known from Argentina, Bolivia, and Paraguay ( Metcalf 1963a; Duffels & van der Laan 1985; Sanborn 2011b; 2013; Sanborn & Heath 2014).
