MATERIAL. South Primorye , Mt Oblachnaya, 1700 m above see level, rock pool with little algae, 14.VIII 1997, 25 ad + 1 larva (leg. S. Kholin) .

DISTRIBUTION. A northern circumboreal species known from Great Britain and Scandinavia to Far East Asia. In Far East Asia, it is known from Magadan Region (including Chukotka), Kamchatka, North Sakhalin, the North and Middle Kuriles (south to Ketoi) [ 1, 2]. It is also known from Mongolia [ 3], Khabarovsk Region, South Primorye and Hokkaido Island ( Japan). The Nearctic distribution ranges from Alaska to Labrador and New Hampshire.

NATURAL HISTORY. It occurs in various small nonpermanent rock pools, shaded pools in spruce forest, peatland pools as well as alpine exposed pools in alpine zone with no or little vegetation. From the south part of the Far East, this species is known from alpine zone (high altitude tundra: about 1700 m above see level in South Primorye and 1400-1900 m in Khabarovsk Region, Mt Tardoki-Yani [personal communication G.Sh. Lafer, Vladivostok]) .
