Nipponomysis patula View in CoL Fukuoka & Pinkaew, 2003
Type locality. Samet Island , northern Gulf of Thailand ( Fukuoka & Pinkaew 2003) .
Record from Thailand. Sai Kaew Beach and Ao Praow (Samet Island), northern Gulf of Thailand ( Fukuoka & Pinkaew 2003).
Habitat and depth. Marine, depth:> 1.5 m ( Fukuoka & Pinkaew 2003) .
Distribution. This species is only known from the Gulf of Thailand ( Fukuoka & Pinkaew 2003).
Remarks. Nipponomysis patula appears allied to N. ornata , N. sinensis and N. quodrispinosa owing to the small number of spines on the uropodal endopod and the shape and armature of the telson. It can be distinguished from the latter three species by the unarmed part near the base of the telson and the expanded membranous lobe on the second article of the mandibular palp. N. patula , moreover, differs from N. quadrispinosa with respect to the exopod of the fourth pleopod of male: the distal two articles are each one-eighth the length of the proximal article in N. patula , compared to four-ninths the length of the proximal article in N. quadrispinosa . Characteristic of this species is that it is the smallest species among the genera of Nipponomysis ( Fukuoka & Pinkaew 2003).
