Original data: “ Type: un ♂ du Moyen-Chari (Mus. Paris)”; “ OUBANGUI- CHARI: Fort Archambault: Boungoul ( Ba-Karé ), quatre exemplaires récoltés de décembre à mars (Dr. DECORSE et A. CHEVALIER)” ( Villiers 1948: 234) .
Type: Holotype ♂: “ TYPE ” // “FÉVRIER” // “ MUSEUM PARIS MOYEN CHARI FORT ARCHAMBAULT BOUNGOUL ( BA-KARÉ) MISSION CHARI · TCHAD Dr J. DECORSE 1904” // “ Pirates rufescens m. A. Villiers det.” [hw Villiers] ( Fig. 56 View FIGURE 56 ).
Type locality: Oubangui - Chari , Moyen-Chari: Fort Archambault [now Sarh, Chad] .
Current status: Junior synonym of Peirates strepitans Rambur, 1839 ( Coscarón & Morrone 1995: 216).
Remark: The three or four paratypes mentioned by Villiers (1948) (it is somewhat unclear from the text whether the holotype was included or not in the four specimens mentioned) were not found.
