Diese Art ist in ihren äusserlichen Proportionen bemerkenswert variabel (Elytrenbreite: Kopfbreite: 1,25 (MS) – 1,50 (PQ), und auch die Beinfärbung variert zwischen rotbraun bis schwarzbraun. Von Stenus pertinax habe ich den ♀ -HT untersucht und komme nun zu der Überzeugung, dass auch dieses Taxon in die Variationsbreite des S. dissentiens gehört. Die Form des 10. Tergits variiert wie in den Abb. 135-140 View Abb gezeigt wird.
