Diagnosis
Adults and deutonymphs: Paratanaupodinae with a pair of posterolateral plates on prodorsum, each bearing multiple setae. Palptibia not elongate, less than twice as long as tibial claw. Palptibia with a distal-ventral hypertrophied seta located near base of tarsus in addition to terminal tibial-claw. Palptarsus short and inserted ventrally near base of tibia. Palptarsus with a spine-like seta and a cluster of 3 eupathidia terminally.
Larvae not known.
Type species
Nanotanaupodus andrei sp. nov. (by original designation).
Etymology
From Nano (small) and the root Tanaupodus ; masculine in gender.
Remarks
This genus is most similar to Paratanaupodus . Both genera lack eyes and trichobothria. The two can be distinguished by a number of features listed in the key to genera above.
