Neotropical: 1) Ecuador ( Keirans et al. 1973, Guglielmone et al. 2021).

Keirans et al. (1973) provided reliable characters to morphologically identify Amblyomma pilosum , cautioning that this tick had previously been confused with similar species, such as Amblyomma boulengeri and Amblyomma macfarlandi ( Guglielmone et al. 2021) .
