Nearctic: 1) Canada, 2) Mexico (north), 3) USA; Neotropical: 1) Mexico (south) ( Keirans & Clifford 1978, Guzmán-Cornejo & Robbins 2010, Durden et al. 2016, Lindquist et al. 2016, Guglielmone et al. 2021).

Ondrejicka et al. (2016) presented molecular evidence to argue that more than one species may exist under the name Ixodes texanus .
