Description of Novosphingobium pokkalii MMS 21-M39
Cells are Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, non-flagellated and rod shaped. Colonies grown on R2 A are pale yellow, circular, convex and entire. Oxidase activity is positive. In the API 20NE test, cells are positive for glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase and esculin hydrolysis; but negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, urease, gelatinase, β -galactosidase, and assimilation of D- glucose, L- arabinose, D- mannose, D- mannitol, N -acetyl-glucosamine, D- maltose, potassium gluconate, capric acid, adipic acid, malate, trisodium citrate and phenylacetic acid. Strain MMS21 View Materials -M39 (= NIBRBAC000508740) was isolated from a soil sample collected from Daejeon, Republic of Korea (36°19 ʹ 08.5 ʺ N 127°20 ʹ 19.9 ʺ E) GoogleMaps .
