(Symplocaceae) in Philipp. J. Sci. 23(3): 259. 1923. TYPE:— CHINA. Hainan: Yik Tsok Mau, 18 May 1922, F. A. McClure 3122 (i.e. Canton Christian College Herbarium 9672) (syntype: PNH, destroyed, A 00077130 image!, A 00077131 image!, A 00077132 image!).

Merrill (1923) validly published the name Symplocos lancilimba Merr. with only one gathering, McClure 9672, cited in the protologue. However, the collecting number on the label of the syntype specimen ( A 00077132 ) exists in A is 3122, while its herbarium number is Canton Christian College Herbarium 9672.Therefore, the erroneous collecting number is to be corrected.
