(Sapotaceae) in Philipp. J. Sci. 21(4): 351. 1922. TYPE:— CHINA. Hainan: Wuzhishan, Wuzhi Shan, 20 December 1921, F. A. McClure 2089 (i.e. Canton Christian College Herbarium 8559) (syntype: PNH, destroyed, A 00075921 image!, A 00075922 image!, NY 00296973 image!).

McClure 8559 was the only gathering cited in the protologue of the name Sideroxylon rostratum Merr. ( Merrill, 1922a) . However, the collecting number on the label of the syntype specimen ( A 00075922 ) exists in A is 2089, while its herbarium number is Canton Christian College Herbarium 8559. Thus, the collecting number cited in the protologue is to be corrected.
