Identification. Pothos atropurpurascens belongs to subgenus Allopothos, the Barberianus group where the species are characterized by thickened, often sharply deflexed long peduncles and often cucullate, somewhat leathery spathes ( Boyce 2000).
Distribution and ecology. Northwest and northeastern Sabah. Primary to disturbed secondary lowland to upper hill forest, occasionally on ultramafics, 125–1230 m elev.
