Type material. Holotype: EAST MALAYSIA: ♂, ‘ Borneo: Sabah, Keningau District, Jungle Girl Camp , N5.4430, E116.4512, 1182 m, Shi H.L., Liu Y. lgt., light trap, Ins. Zoo., CAS. 2016. IV.29 ’ ( IZCAS). GoogleMaps

Diagnostic description. Male. Body ( Fig. 2A View FIGURE 2 ) dark reddish-brown, mouthparts and legs paler. Body length 2.05 mm. Head transverse, length from anterior margin of clypeus to base 0.36 mm, width across eyes 0.47 mm. Each eye composed of about 20 facets. Length of eyes (0.17 mm) / length of tempora (0.07 mm) approximately 2.4:1. Length of antennae 1.17 mm; club ( Fig. 2B View FIGURE 2 ) formed by antennomeres 9–11; antennomere 9 ( Fig. 2C View FIGURE 2 ) roundly-quadrate, with short, apical cylindrical tubercle on dorsal surface; antennomere 10 strongly transverse, obconical; antennomere 11 ( Fig. 2B, 2D View FIGURE 2 ) about 1.4 times as long as wide, with two apically rounded protuberances at base, anterior one densely setose at apex, posterior one with only few apical setae. Pronotum slightly wider than long, length along midline 0.47 mm, maximum width 0.50 mm. Elytra moderately transverse, length along suture 0.66 mm, maximum width 0.80 mm. Abdomen widest at tergite 1 ( IV), and narrowing apically; mid-length of dorsally exposed part 0.60 mm, maximum width 0.72 mm. Length of aedeagus ( Fig. 2E View FIGURE 2 ) 0.22 mm; median lobe almost symmetric, constricted at apical third and then laterally expanded, one curved seta each at apex of expansion.

Female. Unknown.

Comparative notes. The new species is most similar to S. reductus Löbl from Sumatra and S. vespertinus Raffray from West Malaysia in the presence of a cylindrical tubercle on antennomere 9, and the generally broadened apical area of the aedeagus. Sathytes liuyei can be separated from S. reductus by the relatively less elongate antennomere 9, the more transverse antennomere 10, and the relatively much broader antennomere 11 with only two small basal tubercles (antennomere 11 with two small basal tubercles and one transparent vesicle in S. reductus ); from S. vespertinus by the much larger body size (2.05 mm vs. 1.60–1.65 mm), and the median lobe of the aedeagus is roundly narrowing toward apex (the median lobe is broadened at the apex in S. vespertinus ).

Distribution. East Malaysia: Sabah.

Etymology. The new species is named after Ye Liu, who was one of the collectors of the new species.
