Simulium (Simulium) hirtinervis: Takaoka & Davies, 1995: 115 View in CoL –120 (Female, male, pupa and larva).
This species was described from females by Edwards (1928). The male, pupa and larva of this species were described by Takaoka and Davies (1995). This species is characterized in the female by the haired basal portion of the radial vein. The mid tibia was wrongly described to be blackish except the base whitish in the original description, but it is whitish except the apical one-sixth, which is blackish. Abdominal segment 2 was also wrongly described to be dark brown; it is whitish on the basal four-fifths and dark brown on the rest.
The aquatic stages of this species are found in small to large streams at low to high elevations (220–1,600 m) in Cameron Highlands (Ya’cob et al., 2016b).
