Tarsi are three­segmented. An arolium has evolved in cicadids and cercopids ( Fig. 4e View Fig. 4 ). The arolium cuticle has a characteristic inner structure of chitinous threads oriented at some angle to the surface ( Fig. 4J View Fig. 4 ).
