The six described species of this genus occur in southern Australia. The adults of P. mactaria occur in two forms. The larger specimens inhabit high altitude including subalpine areas where the larvae have been recorded feeding on Hakea lissosperma R. Br. and H. microcarpa R. Br. (Proteaceae) . Larvae of the lower altitude specimens are found in dry sclerophyll forests and feed on the legume Pultenaea juniperina Labill. (unpublished data).
