Pleurotoma prevostina Def. — Defrance 1826: 391 [nomen dubium].

Defrance (1826: 391) gave a brief description of a shell from Hirtenberg at Enzesfeld in Austria, stating (in French): “ Shell fusiform, ventrose, covered by coarse striae, which follow the whorls. With strangulation in upper part whorl. Canal very short ”. This insufficient description might point to a Granulatocincta species. Defrance (1826) referred to Constant Prévost (1787–1856), who described the geology from the Hirtenberg area in Prévost (1820). The type material was destroyed in WW II and therefore, the identity of this taxon remains dubious. The species was listed by Tucker (2004), however, it was overlooked that Quenstedt (1884: 625, pl. 210, fig. 49) used this name for a clavatulid from Enzesfeld [ Perrona vindobonensis (Quenstedt, 1884) ], which does not agree with the description of Defrance.
