Specimens examined:
Holotype: 3. South Africa, N Cape Prov. Tswalu Nat Res, 1166m, 27.18S – 22.26E ( TMSA).
Length: 8mm (1 specimen).
Head: Dark reddish brown to black; finely and diffusely punctate.
Antennae: Dark reddish brown; not reaching base of pronotum when laid alongside; A4–A10 serrate. Pronotum: Dark reddish brown to black; slightly punctate; anterior half subparallel, conspicuously constricted towards base, with four elevations on disc; finely and diffusely punctate; length:width ratio 1.62:1. Scutellum: Dark red-brown.
Elytra: Dark reddish brown to black, each elytron with a whitish lateral spot in the basal third and a yellowbrown transverse fascia beyond middle spanning from lateral to sutural margins, fascia with a short extension towards base, apex brown; diameter of punctures smaller or larger than interstices, punctures elongate behind fasciae, impunctate towards apex; length:width ratio 2.62:1.
Legs: Dark reddish brown to black.
Lower surface: Head and thorax dark red-brown, abdomen brown to light brown. Vestiture: With yellowish hairs.
Distribution: South Africa.
Etymology: This name indicates a superficial similarity between this species and S. elegantula , one of the typically coloured Strotocera species.
