Taxonomic comments. This species is distinctive from the other species in that it possesses low, weakly convex plates on the abactinal surface rather than the strongly convex plates ( Figs. 16 A, B) observed in most other Neoferdina species. Although N. glyptodisca possesses bare convex plates on the abactinal surface, the marginal and abactinal plates are very similar to those in Paraferdina sohariae ( Marsh and Price 1991: Fig. 4 ). Should the bare abactinal plates character be discovered to significantly vary, these two species might be considered closely related.

Material examined. USNM 32636 ; Holotype, Labuan Blanda, Butung Strait , Celebes Island , Sulawesi Island, Indonesia. -4.45, 122.928, 44m (24 fms); Coll. USFC Steamer Albatross St. 5640; 1 wet spec. R=3.5, r=1.1.
