Taxonomic comments. This species is distinctive from the other species in that it possesses low, weakly convex plates on the abactinal surface rather than the strongly convex plates ( Figs. 16 View FIGURE 16 A, B) observed in most other Neoferdina species. Although N. glyptodisca possesses bare convex plates on the abactinal surface, the marginal and abactinal plates are very similar to those in Paraferdina sohariae ( Marsh and Price 1991: Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ). Should the bare abactinal plates character be discovered to significantly vary, these two species might be considered closely related.
